Oil disaster - Adriatic
Turkish ship ‘Undadriyatik’ has caused panic in the Adriatic Sea, when it caught fire yesterday, because of nine tons of gas oil it carries. This could possibly become one of the biggest disasters on our territory. The ship is entirely under fire so the situation can’t be solved with special ships for putting out fires, and the planes carrying water are also found to be ineffective. Croatia is not well prepared for this situation, we don’t have enough equipment and experts, and the plan for these kinds of disasters is prepared but has never seen the light of day. Experts claim that so far there has been no pollution of the sea, but the biggest danger is that the ship could sink causing the oil to spill.
